Overview

World’s first Ayurveda Resort, Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health is a beautiful retreat set on a hillock, a few kilometers from the famous Kovalam Beach. Sprawling in an area of around 15 acres, Somatheeram is a destination known for offering the finest Ayurvedic therapies and treatments.

Established back in the year 1985, Somatheeram Health Resort has gained immense popularity through the years. Today, it is one of most popular health resorts in India. The resort offers a tranquil ambiance where guests can unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of their daily life.

Ayurveda

All the health problems right from high cholesterol to paralysis are treated with authentic Ayurveda therapies. An experienced team of doctors and yoga experts is available at the resort who examine the health issues of the guests and then schedule therapies for them. Somatheeram is a place where nature and Ayurveda together work to treat health problems of an individual. The therapies at Somatheeram include long sessions that may extend till days. Every session lasts for a minimum of 60 to 90 minutes and continues for 7 to 21 days. A special massage therapy, 'Pizhichil' is popular for treating diseases like nervous system disorders and paralysis. There are many more therapies like 'Nasyam', 'Kizhi' and 'Snehapanam' that have effectively treated problems like skin diseases and leukemia. Special attention is given to the diet of the guests and all the food is prepared using fresh and natural ingredients.

Accommodation

As accommodation, Somatheeram has eco-friendly rooms and cottages to offer. Set close to the treasures of nature, the rooms of the resort add more positivity to the vibes of Somatheeram. The accommodation options have been divided into 6 categories - Standard Room, Garden Cottage, Special Cottage, Kerala House Standard, Kerala House Deluxe and Kerala Deluxe Suite. The rooms come with modern amenities for the comfort of the guests.

Dining

Facing the beautiful sea is the restaurant of Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort that offers lip -smacking dishes from authentic Indian cuisine. It is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal that is served on a plantain leaf. Fresh ingredients and lots of spices are used for the preparation of meals here.

At the restaurant, guests can choose from around 250 different Ayurvedic vegetarian dishes, salads and juices. Dishes from other cuisines and non-vegetarian food is also available at the restaurant.

Live cooking demonstrations are the star highlight at Somatheeram. With this, guests get to know the secret recipes behind the lip-smacking taste of Kerala’s authentic cuisine. To match the tastes of the guests, the menu at the restaurant can be customized and dishes can be made to the taste of the guests.

Recreation

For recreation, boat tours and yoga classes are also organized at the backwaters of Kovalam that are included in the Ayurveda packages of Somatheeram. A number of cultural programs are organized at the resort to make the guests enjoy the authentic dance and music of Kerala.
