Umed Gardens in Jodhpur is one of the popular lush landscapes of the royal city. Spread on an area of 82 acres, the famous garden was developed by Maharaja Umed Singh. The beautiful gardens has five separate entries. A walk in the lush environs is refreshing and this is one of the popular landmarks of the royal state.

The verdant beauty is owed to its green lawns with beautiful roses and seasoned flowers. Also inside the gardens, is a museum, towering Ashoka trees, artistically designed fountains, library and a zoo.

Viceroy Willingdon of the British Raj had inaugurated the zoo. The zoo is home to Tigers, Lion, zebra, Ostrich and an Emu. Monkeys are also seen swinging from trees. A ‘Walk-in Aviary’ in the zoo was constructed on the garden in 1978. The aviary houses different types of birds, local, ducks, African and Australian parrots. All species of wildlife are kept in the natural habitats. A bear sanctuary is also housed here. Wildlife of India is represented in a nutshell.

Children as well as adults very often visit the garden with equal interest. The garden is known to mesmerize people with the nature’s beauty in which it abounds. It is one of the not to miss attractions of Jodhpur.
