International Yoga Festival is one of the most popular highlights at Pondicherry bringing guests and yoga enthusiasts from around the world to this charming town. Organized by the Government of Pondicherry every year from January 4th to January 7th, the festival offer a great exhibition of India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage through workshops, demonstrations and competitions.
Also aimed at developing the physical, mental and emotional consciousness of the participants, the program of the festival also include practical Yoga classes and discussions and dialogs on the topic of yoga.
The International Yoga festival is being conducted by the government in Pondicherry since 1992. The festival wonderfully commemorates and celebrates the ancient spiritual heritage of Pondicherry, where many siddhas and yogis attained salvation and many research works on Yoga were done.

How to Reach International Yoga Festival, Pondicherry
By Air: The nearest airport for reaching Pondicherry is Chennai airport, which is situated at a distance of 150 kilometers. This is an international airport and is well connected to many important cities from around the world. You can hire taxis and cabs, available from outside the airport to reach Pondicherry.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is Villupuram at the distance of 40 kilometers. Trains from Chennai, Madurai as well as Thiruvananthapuram halt here, while there is also an option to board a train from Bangalore to Cuddalore and reach Pondicherry by road.
