One of the most popular tourist attractions in Jaisalmer, the Folklore is around 3 decades old. Founded in the year 1984, the museum is placed on the banks of Gadsisar Lake in the Mehar Bagh Garden. The museum is a treasure house and an amazing showcase of the heritage as well as history of the city.

Folklore museum was established by the initiative of NK Sharma, whose thought also assisted in assembling different displays for the museum including several artifacts, post cards, paintings, manuscripts and old coins. The objects and displayed items at the museum are a representation of the royal historical past and the culture of the city of Jaisalmer, which are the major crowd pullers.
