Hall of Fame in Leh Ladakh

A museum built by the Indian Army called the Hall of Fame is among the top places to visit in Leh Ladakh. It was constructed to honor the brave soldiers of India who sacrificed their lives defending their motherland in the Indo-Pak wars. Thus, the Hall of Fame museum is a remembrance of great sacrifices our Indian soldiers have made so that we can be safe and secure in our country. Apart from this, the museum is located on the Leh-Kargil road, approx. 4 km from Leh city, and can be easily reached by public or private means of transportation. It is a must-visit place to pay respects to the Indian soldiers and to the families who lost their loved ones in these disputes.

What to see inside the Hall of Fame?

The Hall of Fame has two sections, which are further divided into several sections containing displays.

Section 1

On the upper floor, there is an area called OP Vijay Gallery, where you can witness several weapons used in the Kargil War. There are also arms and ammunition taken by the Indian Army during the war of 1999.

The same floor also has another area with amazing apparel and amenities that the Indian Army used in the Siachen region. Pictures here also display the army posts on this glacier, how they were accommodated, and their training process on ice walls.

Section 2

The ground floor of the Hall of Fame has pictures of the Kargil War on the walls. This tells stories of how the Indian Army fought during the war. There is a separate wall named “Lest We Forget” which showcases the images of the soldiers who laid down their lives to protect their nation.

On the same floor, there is a projection room where you can watch a documentary on “Operation Vijay”. “The Last Post” is a wall in this part of the floor, which has a letter written by Captain Vijayvant Tahapar to his parents days before his martyrdom. The museum has a section that exhibits the culture, history, and facts about Ladakh.

Apart from this, You can also buy souvenirs from the shop like t-shirts, caps, coffee mugs, and pashmina shawls. Get your photo clicked in the Ladakhi attire and get printed out at a minimal price. This will be a remembrance of your visit to this place in Leh Ladakh.

Opening and Closing Time of Hall of Fame

The museum remains open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Entry Charges for the Museum

You can get entry into the museum with a ticket of INR 25 per person. But if you want to do photography inside, you need to pay INR 50 more.

How to Reach Hall of Fame

The museum Hall of Fame has been situated around 4 km from Leh city on the Leh-Kargil road. From the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, the museum is only about 2 km away, which can be covered by foot or by cab.
