Located in the northern part of Kerala, Kozhikode was extremely popular as a commerce and trading center for spice trade and locally-made cloth- Calico in the earlier times. It was Kappad beach near Kozhikode where the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama landed his foot as the first European. The British called the place Calicut and used it is a trading post. In the present times, Kozhikode is one of the best backwater destinations in Kerala. These backwaters have been blessed by abundant natural beauty, exotic flora and fauna, heritage sites, verdant surroundings, and more.

The backwaters of Kozhikode boast of unspoilt scenic beauty and thus is an ideal place to have a peaceful and memorable vacation. Though the place has to offer unforgettable experience all around the year but the best time to visit Calicut/Kozhikode backwater is between the months of September to May.

Kappad Beach- Kappad beach is that very popular beach where the famous Portuguese explorer, Vasco De Gama, first landed in India. Here you can interact with the locals and can also partake in fishing. Even after 500 years, this beach still is a pristine one and one of the popular beaches in Kerala.

Payyoli Beach- A tranquil patch of crystal-clear waters and golden sands, bordering Velliyamkallu, Payyoli beach is the perfect place for indulge in water activities.

Dolphin Point- Just 2 km from Kozhikode, Dolphin point can be identified with twin piers and a light house. This is the place where you can enjoy dolphin viewing. The place is equally popular amidst locals and tourists.

Pazhassirajah Museum- Just 5 km from Kozhikode, Pazhassirajah Museum has a wonderful collection of exquisite frescos, bronze sculptures, ancient coins, various models of temples, murals and paintings, etc.
