Best time to visit Tsomgo Lake

Visiting Tsomgo Lake is possible around the year. Though, each season will offer a completely different view of the surroundings. Between December and March, the lake is surrounded by sheets of ice, and you will see the black and white image of the mountains and the surroundings. The lake also gets frozen during this time.

If you were to visit here between April and May, the pleasant sights of Orchids and Rhododendrons would treat your eyes. At the same time, those traveling to Tsomgo Lake between June and November will get the best view of the valley, mountains, and lake.

Do I require a permit before visiting Tsomgo Lake?

Tsomgo Lake comes under the Sikkim restricted areas, so foreign citizens have to obtain the inner line permit to visit the lake. It's a compulsion to get a special permit to visit the lake.

You can get this permit online from the Sikkim Tourism website or from Delhi, Kolkata, Siliguri, and Gangtok offline. Moreover, you must be in a group of two or more to visit Tsomgo Lake.
