Itinerary - Trekking Tour of Western Arunachal Pradesh

Day 1 - Guwahati - Dirang (220 km/7 hrs)

As soon as you land at Guwahati Airport, our representative will assist you to your hotel in Dirang. Located at an altitude of 1560 m above sea level, Dirang offers views of snow-capped mountains, gushing streams, and lush greenery.

Upon arrival in the evening, complete the check-in formalities and spend a comfortable overnight.

Day 2 - Dirang - Thungri (5 hrs)

After breakfast, get ready and check out from the hotel. Drive off-road to Thungri (3100 m above sea level). After 5 hours of driving through the forests and witnessing yak pastures and snow-clad peaks, set up the tent for the night. Overnight camping in Thungri.

Day 3 - Thungri - Changla Pass (6 hrs trek)

Savor a delightful meal in the morning and then, proceed towards Changla Pass, located at a height of 5360 m. Trek through coniferous forest and enjoy the picturesque valley views. Set up the tent just below Changla and spend overnight camping.

Day 4 - Changla Pass - Potok (7 hrs trek)

After breakfast, start your Changla Pass to Potok trek. Witness breathtaking views during the 2 hours trek from Changla Pass to Poshingla Pass (3950 m). From the pass, go down through the juniper and rhododendrons forest. Trek for 4 more hours to the high alpine pastures of Potok (4200 m) and camp near the stream. Overnight stay in Potok.

Day 5 - Potok - Sela Pass - Lurtem (6 hrs trek)

Savor breakfast and start the trek to Lurtem via Sela Pass (4170 m). It will be the highest point in this trek with mesmerizing views of Gorichen and Kangto peaks. Explore the alpine lake near Sela Pass and then trek for 2 hours into the valley. Camp and overnight stay in Lurtem.

Day 6 - Lurtem - Mago (6 hrs trek)

Wake up and start the trek from Lurtem to Mago. Walk along the river valley and pass through coniferous forests. Witness yak huts along the tributary of Tawang Chu River. Set up the campsites near Mago Village and call it a day.

Day 7 - Mago - Thimbu (5 hrs trek)

On day 7 of your Arunachal Pradesh 11 Day itinerary, have breakfast and leave the campsite. Make your way towards Thimbu Village located at an elevation of 4200 m. Trek along Tawang Chu River and take a steep climb to Thimbu Village. Overnight stay in camps at Thimbu.

Day 8 - Thimbu - Jung - Tawang (5 hrs trek)

After breakfast, leave the campsite and proceed towards Tawang via Jung. Cross the Tawang Chu River and its tributaries along with suspension bridges to reach the highway. Later, drive to Tawang and spend the night at a hotel.

Day 9 - Tawang

Wake up and have breakfast. Proceed to explore the city of Tawang. Visit the renowned 400-year-old Tawang Monastery located atop a hill. Spend time relaxing your mind and witness gorgeous views. It is the world's second-largest monastery and also a center for enlightened studies. After this, visit Urgelling Monastery, the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. As the sun sets, go for a walk in the local market. Come back to the hotel and slide under the sheets for a restful sleep.

Day 10 - Tawang - Bomdila (168 km/6 hrs)

Start your morning early with breakfast and check out. Proceed towards the next destination of your trekking tour of Western Arunachal, Bomdila. It is the district headquarter of West Kameng District and is located at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains. On the way, stop at Thubsung Dhargye Ling monastery in Dirang and then continue the drive to Bomdila. Upon reaching, check-in at the hotel for an overnight sleep.

Day 11 - Bomdila - Guwahati (276 km/7 hrs)

This is the last day of your Western Arunachal trekking tour. After breakfast, drive to Guwahati Airport to catch a flight back home with memories you will cherish forever.
