Travelers with Disabilities

Disability is a pure myth. There is nothing in the world that can possibly act as a stumbling-block to stop a traveler from exploring. When it comes to India, the list of attraction is endless and this might be uneasy for physically or visually challenged people, but don’t get disheartened as it is all sorted now. Here are some facts you need to know. Before you are planning to visit India, make sure you have a word with your doctor regarding your health conditions.

Accommodation

There are many hotels in different budget that are wheelchair-friendly and provide special facilities to disabled travelers. It is always best to make queries before booking a hotel and insisting on staying on the ground floor of those hotels that do not provide adequate facilities.

Accessibility

Ramps to climb wheelchairs are easily available in many buildings, like restaurants, hospital, hotels and malls. However, most places have stairs that are steep.

Footpaths

Pavements are usually littered, packed with pedestrians or riddled with holes. So, it is advised to bring along spare rubber caps if you are using crutches.

Transport

Best way to get around in this condition is hiring a cab. Nowadays there are certain cab companies that take care of special requirements and can send wheel-chair friendly cabs.
