The Pangarchulla Peak Trek is a beautiful introduction for challenging adventure trekking in the Himalayas. The trek poses just the right amount of challenge. It is perfect for adventure enthusiasts and mostly everyone in love with mountains.
Pangarchulla Trek can be done throughout the year but if a best season is considered then, it is between the months from April to June. Trekking in winters means snow whereas the spring season is ideal to witness landscapes beautified with colorful flowers. The trek becomes quite challenging so it is important to be physically fit. The higher altitudes have lower levels of oxygen, which can cause Acute Mountain Sickness.
The trekking expedition is a 6 day tour. Though the journey starts from Haridwar, the actual on foot trekking, starts only on the second day from Joshimath. Begin trekking from Joshimath at 6724 feet to Gulling Top through Dhak village at 9600 feet. The trail passes through several beautiful mountain villages and the view of prominent peaks such as Hathi Parvat, Dronagiri and Gori Parvat.
The following day is a little more challenging considering the trail is steeper. Trek to the Khulara camp at 11,122 feet. The trek is not more than 6 km but the time is usually more than 6 hours. Mighty snow-capped peaks of Nanda Devi, Kalanka, etc. can be spotted.
Next day, climb the Pangarchulla summit. The trek is distance is of 12 km and the destined altitude is about 14,700 feet. Start the hike early to reach well in time to experience the sunrise. It's a breathtaking view worth all the effort for coming to this location. After enjoying the view, begin your return trek.
