Itinerary - Sri Lanka Heritage Tour

Day 1 - Colombo – Pinnawala - Dambulla

After arriving at the Colombo airport, get in touch with our IHPL representative. Start your road journey towards Dambulla via Pinnawala. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage began its journey with only seven elephants. Today however, there is an impressive number of elephants at this captive breeding farm for Asian elephants. It’s really exciting to see these majestic animals at such a close range and learn various things about them.

This is followed by an overnight stay at a hotel in Dambulla.

Day 2 - Dambulla - Sigiriya - Kandy

Start the day with a hearty breakfast. Later, proceed to enjoy sightseeing in Dambulla today. The first stop of the excursions is Dambulla Rock temple. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the largest and best-preserved cave temples in the country, here you can witness almost 153 Buddha statues along with paintings of the Lord, statues of Sri Lankan kings, various Gods and Goddesses.

Proceed to Kandy via Sigriya, a scenic 2 hours' drive through the beautiful landscape of the countryside. En-route visit Nalanda Gedige. The ancient and mysterious stone edifice is a strange mix of Hindu and Buddhist architecture dating back to the period between 8th-10th centuries. Walk around exploring the frescos of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, located at Sigriya.

Arrive at Kandy and move into your hotel. Retire for the night.

Day 3 - Kandy - Peredeniya - Nuwara-Eliya

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, proceed for sightseeing. Pay a visit to tourist hotspots in Kandy and Peredeniya.

Start the city tour with a visit to the scenic Kandy Lake. Later, proceed to attend a spectacular cultural performance. Next, proceed with the sightseeing. Soak in the amazements of arts and crafts centre. Get blessings with a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Set amid the former royal palace of the kingdom of Kandy, here the tooth of Lord Buddha is enshrined and worshipped. Also, explore the Gem museum. Last stop of the day is the imposing Royal Botanical Gardens that are at Peradeniya.

Later, continue with your drive towards Nuwara-Eliya. On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. The day is free of further plans.

Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 4 - Nuwara-Eliya - Kitulgala - Colombo

Wake up to a delicious breakfast served at the hotel. Later, go exploring the charming town. Nuwara-Eliya is an extremely popular hill resort of the country. Enjoy the blissful view and the fresh air. Next, pay a visit to the tea plantation region. While exploring the sights, spot the beautiful Kelani River. The broadest river in Sri Lanka is known globally as the location where Oscar winning movie "Bridge on the River Kwai" was filmed.

After taking in sights, proceed towards Colombo via Kitulgala.

Overnight stay at Colombo's hotel.

Day 5 - Colombo

After you are done with breakfast, pack your bags and check out of the hotel. Get assisted transfer to the Colombo airport to board the flight for your further journey.
