One of the most formidable forts of the Portuguese in India, the Aguada Fort which was built to protect Goa from the marauding navies of Dutch and Marathas. This is the place where Mandovi meets the Arabian Sea. The peculiarity of this Fort is that it never fell into enemy hands. The ingenuity of architecture lies in the fact that the fort uses the natural terrain of the region to protect itself. Built entirely of the local laterite stone, the fort is an exquisite example of Portuguese military architecture.

There is a 4 storeyed lighthouse lying near the Fort was built way back in 1864 and was designed to emit light every 30 seconds.
