Itinerary - Darjeeling Gangtok and Kalimpong Tour

Day 1 - Arrival in Gangtok

Meet our tour representative upon your arrival at Bagdogra Airport/New Jalpaiguri Railway Station who shall assist you to one of our listed hotels in Gangtok, a city blessed with luxuriant forests, alpine landscapes, rivers, and lakes. Witnessing Mt. Kanchenjunga covered in snow is a sight to behold here.

Once reached, check-in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Either soak in the comforts of your room or go out to explore the top tourist attractions. Finally, enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 - Gangtok - Tsomgo Lake (36 km/1 hour)

Wake up to a healthy breakfast and get ready for an excursion to Tsomgo Lake. This oval-shaped lake is perched at 3753 meters and houses several migratory birds and the Brahminy ducks. The lake remains covered in snow for most of the year but receives its water from the melting of mountain snow in summer. Tsomgo Lake holds religious importance among locals. You can enjoy yak and mule rides along the lake if you want to.

Return to the hotel and rest. You can visit the local markets for shopping as Gangtok is famous for selling locally made artifacts and handicrafts. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3 - Gangtok - Kalimpong (74 km/3 hours)

Day 3 of your Gangtok itinerary is reserved for local sightseeing. After breakfast, visit the Directorate of Handicrafts Handloom Emporium that exhibits locally produced items. Housing a massive collection of Tibetan carpets, traditional motifs, and other handicrafts, the emporium aims to propagate and preserve the artifacts of local artisans.

Proceed to the Research Institute of Tibetology, which will give you insights into the culture of the land. Then, head towards Do Drul Chorten, a magnificent stupa; the Buddhists highly revere it. Next, visit Enchey Monastery, dating back to 1909, displaying several murals, auspicious Buddhist symbols, and a wheel of law. Also, take a tour of the White Hall and Flower Exhibition Center.

Once done with the exploration of Gangtok, transfer to Kalimpong, famous for Buddhist monasteries, churches, and Tibetan handicrafts. Check-in at the hotel and retire for the day.

Day 4 - Kalimpong - Darjeeling (53 km/2 hours)

On day 4 of your Darjeeling Kalimpong Gangtok itinerary, savor breakfast, and proceed for Kalimpong sightseeing. First, start a road trip to Deolo Hill, one of the two hills that the town is positioned in between. Hailed as the highest point in Kalimpong, the hill offers spectacular views.

Later on, visit Hanuman Mandir. It is perched on a hill with a huge 30-feet statue of Lord Hanuman that overlooks the town. Next, move towards Dr. Graham's Homes. It is a school built to educate poor kids and the children of tea workers. Afterward, visit Durbin Monastery, Mangal Dham (dedicated to Hindu God Krishna), and Pine View Nursery (exotic collection of cacti).

Post the Kalimpong tour, transfer to Darjeeling. Home to the famous World Heritage Train- Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, this hill town features tea plantations, lakes, monasteries, museums, and more. Check-in at the hotel and unwind. Spend the evening at leisure and later enjoy a relaxing sleep.

Day 5 - Darjeeling

Day 5 of your Darjeeling Kalimpong Gangtok tour package from Siliguri is reserved for exploration of Darjeeling. Wake up early and drive to Tiger Hill to treat your eyes to the sunrise illuminating the peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga. Return to the hotel. En-route visit the Ghoom Monastery, housing a 15-feet high statue of the Maitreya Buddha. Next, enjoy a trip to Batasia Loop (a garden) and War Memorial that honors the Gurkha soldiers of Darjeeling.

Savor breakfast and, later on, explore Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, perched at 7000 feet; it is one of India's highest zoos. Then, visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, which aims to inspire the young generation to participate in sports like mountaineering.

Take a ropeway ride for a bird's-eye view of the town and also visit Tenzing and Gombu Rock, which derives their name from Tenzing Norgay and Nawang Gombu. Get glimpses of Tibetan Culture at Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center and also taste varieties of tea on a tea estate tour. Call it a day at Peace Pagoda- a Buddhist monument or stupa constructed to promote peace and unity. Return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 6 - Darjeeling - Siliguri (62 km/2.5 hours)

Today is the last day of your Darjeeling Kalimpong Gangtok package. Check-out from the hotel after breakfast and head towards Siliguri. From there, you will get assisted transfer to Bagdogra Airport or Jalpaiguri Railway Station to catch a flight or train for your onward journey.
