The island can only be accessed by a wooden canoe or a boat furnished by the local people.

By Air :- The closest airport for reaching Chithari is Mangalore, located approximately 50 kilometers away. Another option is the Kochi airport which is at a distance of 420 kilometers. Regular flights from major carriers operate from these terminals. Taxis and cabs are available to take the visitors to Chithari.

By Rail :- The nearest railway station is Kanhangad, located 5 kilometers away. The railway station connect to other prominent towns nearby and far by well-laid rail networks.

By Road :- Buses, both state owned and private operators ply to and fro from Chithari to important destinations. The area is also accessible by cabs and taxis through good motorable roads.
