This 15 nights and 16 days  tour –In the Footsteps of Buddha is a perfect itinerary for those who are the followers of Buddhism.

This journey is going to take you the sites which were important in the life of Lord Buddha. You will get a chance to visit the journey of King Siddhartha, till the time he became Buddha and attained enlightenment.

You will get a chance to explore ancient Buddhist monuments as well. You will also be visiting the golden triangle cities along with Lucknow.

Itinerary - At the Footsteps of Buddha

Day 1 - Arrival in Delhi

Get an assisted transfer to the hotel, once you arrive in Delhi. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 - Delhi Local Sightseeing

Post Breakfast you will proceed from Hotel to enjoy local Sightseeing of New Delhi.

Qutub Minar: This 72.5 meter victory tower , an excellent example of architecture in Afghanistan has been given World Heritage Site status . QutubMinar was built in the 12th century by QutubuddinAibak.

Bahai Temple: Situated in South Delhi ,Bahai temple is also known as "The Lotus Temple" due to its unique lotus shaped design in Marble. The temple was built in 1987 by the followers of Bahai faith. It is closed on each Monday.

After this drive by the India Gate, Parliament House and Chanakya Puri - area where all the embassies and the high commissions are located.

Red Fort: Built by Shahjahan, the builder of Taj Mahal in Agra, The construction lasted from 1639 to 1648 (Monday Closed) Old Fort: Monday Only. Built in 1648 ,by Shahjahan, who also built the Taj Mahal in Agra .

Rajghat: The simple design of a square platform built in black marble marks the place where Mahatama Gandhi was cremated.

Humayun's Tomb: Built by Humayun's widow, Queen Haji Begum in the sixteenth century, it is supposed to be a prototype of the Taj Mahal.

Come back to Hotel for an overnight Stay in New Delhi.

Day 3 - Delhi - Jaipur

After breakfast, hit the road to go to Jaipur. On arrival, check –in at the hotel. Get relax, Afternoon visit the local markets can enjoy your shopping or free for leisure activities. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 - Jaipur Sightseeing Tour

Post Breakfast drive to Amber Fort where you may enjoy Elephant Ride at additional cost. It is one of UNESCO listed hill forts of Rajasthan. Later in the afternoon, return to Jaipur city for sightseeing. Witness the glory of Rajputs as you pay a visit to their incredible sights. Cover attractions like City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Nawab Saheb ki Haveli, etc. The local bazaars open up a variety of shopping pleasures.

Now come back to Hotel for an overnight stay at Jaipur.

Day 5 - Jaipur - Agra

After breakfast, start your journey to Agra. En-route Cover Fatehpur Sikri, the old deserted town of Mughala. Once you arrive in Agra, check- in at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Red Fort, Taj Mahal, and the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula. Overnight stay.

Day 6 - Agra - Varanasi

Day 6 is scheduled for a visit to Agra Fort and Itmad-ud-Dualah Tomb. Afterward, get an assisted transfer to the railway station to board an overnight train to Varanasi.

Day 7 - Varanasi

Upon arrival, our tour representative will meet and escort you to the hotel. Freshen up and leave for a spiritual tour to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kaal Bhairav Temple, the pristine ghats and Banaras Hindu University. Along with that, you will visit Sarnath, one of the four main pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. The main attractions of Sarnath are Deer Park, Chaukhandi Stupa, and Sarnath Museum.

Later in the evening, fill your soul with solace as you attend the famous Ganga Aarti.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 8 - Varanasi - Bodhgaya

Begin this day on a good note as you will go for a rejuvenating boat ride on the holy Ganges River. After that head to Bodhgaya.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 9 - Bodhgaya

On day 9, you will visit the Mahabodhi Temple. The shrine holds the stature of a UNESCO World Heritage Site as it is the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. A descendant of the Bodhi Tree under which Buddha gained enlightenment finds its place in the complex.

Overnight stay.

Day 10 - Patna

Leave for Patna by road. On the way, visit Nalanda, Rajgir, Saptaparni Cave and Venevamas.

Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 - Vaishali - Kushinagar

On day 11, leave for Vaishali, the place where Lord Buddha gave his last sermon and announced Parnirvana (nirvana after death). Make sure you visit the Ashok Pillar, one of the five pillars of Ashoka across the Indian subcontinent; Chaumukhi and Lotus Tank.

After the excursion, gear up for the next destination, Kushinagar for a night stay.

Day 12 - Kushinagar - Lumbini

You will go on a half-day Kushinagar tour, covering the modern Japan Sri Lanka Temple, Mahanirvana Temple along with a few shrines around.

Later leave for Lumbini. On arrival, check-in at the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 13- Lumbini - Kapilvastu - Shravasti - Balrampur

In the morning, enjoy a tour of Ashoka's pillar, situated in a dense Sal forest, Mayadevi temple, remains of an ancient monastery and a few other tourist attractions. Leave for Balrampur in the afternoon. On the way, cover Shravasti where you will explore the remains of an ancient city and Jetavana Monastery.

On arrival, check-in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 14 - Balrampur- Lucknow

Day 14 is packed for a city tour. Post lunch, leave for Lucknow. Get transferred to the hotel after arrival for an overnight stay.

Day 15 - Lucknow

Kick start the day with a delectable breakfast and go out for a joyful sightseeing tour. Visit Rumi Darwaza and Imambara. Later, get transferred to the airport to catch a flight for Delhi. On arrival in the capital city, check-in at the hotel for night halt.

Day 16 - Departure

Day 16 marks the last day of your At the Footsteps of Buddha tour. You will be escorted to the Delhi International Airport for the journey home or to the next destination.
