The opening and the closing date of these 4 revered sites are usually declared by the Char Dham temple committee, Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the Chardham Yatra should be processed in a clockwise direction. Hence, the yatra starts from Yamunotri towards Gangotri, follows to Kedarnath, and finally closes at Badrinath. 1. The Opening Dates of Chardham Yatra in 2026

Chardham’s Names – Opening Date
Gangotri Temple – 19th April 2026
Yamunotri Temple – 19th April 2026
Kedarnath Temple – 22nd April 2026
Badrinath Temple – 24th April 2026

The opening dates for the Char Dham yatra of 2026 were announced on the holy eve of Basant Panchami on 23rd January 2026 by the temple committee of Char Dham. The opening date of Chardham Yatra was announced to be on 15th February 2026 on Maha Shivratri.

Gangotri Temple Opening Date in 2026

The Yatra for Gangotri Dham was scheduled to begin on the holy eve of Akshaya Tritiya, which was scheduled to take place on 19 April 2026 this year.

Yamunotri Temple Opening Date in 2026

The Yatra for Yamunotri Dham was programmed to start on the holy eve of Akshaya Tritiya, which was listed to take place on 19 April 2026.

Kedarnath Temple Opening Date in 2026

On 22nd April 2026 date, the Kedarnath Temple Yatra was scheduled to initiate the sacred festival of Akshaya Tritiya by shifting the idol of Lord Kedar from Ukhimath to the main temple.

Badrinath Temple Opening Date in 2026

Badrinath holy home of Lord Vishnu also opens up during the holy eve of Akshaya Tritiya at 4:30 am tentatively on 24th April 2026.

2. The Closing Dates of Chardham Yatra in 2026

Gangotri Temple – 10th November 2026 (Tentative)
Yamunotri Temple – 11th November 2026 (Tentative)
Kedarnath Temple – 11th November 2026 (Tentative)
Badrinath Temple – 13th November 2026 (Tentative)

The closing dates of the holy Char Dham are also decided by the temple committee. The closing date of Chardham will be tentatively on 13th November 2026, which will be decided on the holy eve of Vijay Dashmi or Dussehra.

Gangotri Temple Closing Date in 2026

The Gangotri Dham Kapat is shut down for Darshan during the holy occasion of Diwali which is predicted to take place on 10 November 2026 (Next Day of Diwali).

Yamunotri Temple Closing Date in 2026

The holy eve of Bhai Dooj, which is depicted to fall on 11 November 2026, will mark the closing of the Yamunotri Dham.

Kedarnath Temple Closing Date in 2026

On the holy eve of Bhai Dooj, Kedarnath temple will be closed for the winter on the 11 November 2026.

Badrinath Temple Closing Date in 2026

The closing ceremony for Badrinath Dham is set to take place on the auspicious eve of Bhai Dooj which is set to take place on  13 November 2026 date.
