The Indian Meteorological Service has divided the country into seven regions as per their climatic variations. However, the peak season and the best time to visit India is during the winter season when the hill-stations of Northern India gets carpeted with snow and regions of South India receives refreshing rainfalls.


Winter (November - February)

Mist of rains leave behind the chills and thus comes the winter season on India. As a matter of fact, winter season is the peak time for tourists visit in India. This is the time when 90 percent of the country's weather is hospitable and pleasant. The popular Golden Triangle Tour of India, which includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, is highly popular during this time. Even the snow-clad regions of Himalayas receive heavy footfall of tourists. Places like Gulmarg and Auli gets converted into skiing destinations and people come here to play with snow. However the weather in South India stays pleasant all around the year.

Summers (March - May)

As spring fades, many regions in India begins to get heated, starting from Northern Plains and then gradually to rest of the country. By April, temperature's soars up to 40 degrees celsius in certain regions. Undoubtedly, summer is the best time to visit hill stations and national parks in India, as they are untouched by heat. Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kashmir and others become busy. Adventures such as camping, trekking, river rafting, etc. get popular. During this time, you have great chances of spotting tigers and other such species in national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.

Monsoon (June - October)

There are two monsoons in India, namely- The Southwest Monsoon and Northeast Monsoon. Southwest Monsoon affects most part of India, from June to September. The Northeast Monsoon only affects South India, mainly Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala and spans for a short time, i.e. during November and December. The monsoon season in India has varied affects in various regions; in some places it might rain copiously while in some it is light rainfalls.
