At the Footsteps of Buddha

Buddhism is more of a philosophy and a way of life that was propounded by the seer, Lord Buddha. The Eightfold path that was coined by Buddha forms the basis on which the Buddhists lead their life. There are more than 6 million Buddhists in the country and a number of historical sites in India that are related to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha and thus are important places of religious and tourist interest. Hundreds of years have passed but the architectural monuments related to Lord Buddha still stand as testimonials of Buddhist doctrines and way of life.

Day 01 - Arrive Delhi

On the 1st day of your tour you arrive at Delhi and the India tourist and tour guide receives you and drives you to the hotel. You freshen up and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 - Delhi

On the 2nd day the tour package includes tours to the several tourist destinations in Delhi, India. You go on a tour to the Qutab Minar, Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb, Gandhi Memorial, India Gate and the Jama Masjid. After an entire days tour you come back to the hotel. You stay at the hotel overnight.

Day 03 - Delhi - Jaipur

On the morning of the 3rd day the tour package includes a drive to Jaipur. Upon your arrival at Jaipur, you check in to a hotel. You are free to spend your evening at leisure. You stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 04 - Jaipur

The tour package includes an excursion to the most important tour destinations in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. You begin your day with an elephant joy ride to the Amber fort and then you visit the Hawa Mahal, Nawab Sahab Ki Haveli, Johari Bazar, the Royal Observatory and the City Palace. You come back to the hotel after your tours and stay at the hotel overnight.

Day 05 - Jaipur - Agra

On the 5th day the tour package includes a drive to Agra. On the way to Agra your India tourist and tour guide arranges for you to go on tours to the Fatehpur Sikri. Once you reach Agra, the tourist and tour guide helps you check in to the hotel. In the afternoon the tour package includes tours to the tourist destinations of Agra, the Taj Mahal, Itmad-ud-daula's Tomb and the Red Fort. After your tours you come back to the hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 06 - Agra - Varanasi

On the 6th day of the tour, you are driven to the airport so that you can catch the flight to Varanasi. On your arrival at Varanasi you are taken to the hotel where you check-in. The tour package includes an afternoon city tour of Sarnath, an import Buddhist pilgrimage and place of worship. Sarnath is popular for its Dhamekh Stupa. It is an important place of Buddhist pilgrimage as this was the place where Lord Buddha preached for the first time. After an enlightening tour of Sarnath you come back to the hotel where you stay overnight.

Day 07 - Varanasi

On the morning of the 7th day the tour package includes a boat ride on the River Ganges, after which the tour and tourist guide takes you on a tour of Varanasi, India. You visit tourist destinations such as the Vishwanath Temple and the Bharat Mata Temple. You stay overnight at hotel.

Day 08 and Day 09- Varanasi - Bodhgaya

You stay in the holy city of Varanasi for two days and visit the important Buddhist places of worship. The major Buddhist pilgrimages you go on tours to include Rajgir, Sapta pari cave, Nalanda and Venevamas. Rajgir is a Buddhist pilgrimage of great significance as Lord Buddha spent 12 crucial years of his life here. Lord Buddha held his first council here after he attained nirvana. You also visit Nalanda. This city was founded in the 5th century. Nalanda has been the seat for Buddhist learning and education for centuries.

Day 10 - Bodhgaya - Vaishali - Kushinagar

On the 10th day the tour package includes a tour to Vaishali. Vaishali is one of the important Buddhist places of worship. This Buddhist pilgrimage has a very special significance, as it was here that Lord Buddha delivered his final sermon. The tour package includes tours to the majestic Ashoka Pillar, Chaumukhi and the Lotus tank. After your tours to tourist destinations in Vaishali, the tour package includes a drive to Kushinagar. Once you reach Kushinagar, Bihar, India the tourist and tour guide takes you to the hotel where you check in and stay overnight.

Day 11 - Kushinagar - Lumbini

On the 11th day the tour package includes tours to the Japan and Sri Lanka Buddhist center and monasteries and the Mahanirvana Temple that is one of the Buddhist places of worship. The tour package then includes a trip to Lumbini. On your arrival at Lumbini you check in at the hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 12 - Lumbini - Kapilvastu - Sravasti - Balrampur

On the 12th morning you make a tour to Ashoka's pillar that was constructed sometime in the 249 B.C., this pillar was rediscovered in the year 1890 inside a sal forest. You also visit the Mayadevi temple, some Buddhist stupas and the ruins of an old Buddhist monastery. In the afternoon you continue your journey to Balrampur. On the way you stop at Sravasti, where you visit the ruins of the Jetavana Monastery that is an important Buddhist pilgrimage. On your arrival at Balrampur you check in to a hotel. You stay at the hotel overnight.

Day 13 - Balrampur - Lucknow

On the 13th day the tour package includes a morning tour of the city of Balrampur. After you complete your tour of Balrampur you continue your trip to Lucknow. On your arrival at Lucknow you check in to a hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 14 - Lucknow

On the 14th day the tour package includes a tour of Lucknow and you visit tourist destinations such as the Rumi Darwaza and the Bara Imambara. The tour operator finally takes you the airport where you board the flight for Delhi.

Day 15 - Departure Delhi

Your tourist and tour guide drives you to the International Airport so that you can board the flight back home.
