Itinerary - Palace on Wheels

Day 1 - Delhi

Welcome aboard Palace on Wheels. The weeklong journey to the wonderland of Rajasthan begins at the Safdarjung Railway Station Delhi with a traditional style welcome ceremony followed by check in and registration formalities. The train will leave for Jaipur in the evening. Overnight stay on board.

Day 2 - Jaipur

The train arrives at the 'Pink City' Jaipur early in the morning. Explore the city. Visit to Hawa Mahal – the Palace of Wind - a remarkable five-storied pink building in the old city and also make a visit to the 18th century astronomical observatory Jantar Mantar. After Jantar Mantar, make a move towards City Palace, the royal palace of the erstwhile Maharajas which now serves as a museum. The palace also houses a souvenir shop from where you can buy some priceless memories of your stay. Later, visit Amber Fort and enjoy a gala lunch there. If you want, you can also enjoy an elephant ride at Amber Fort to explore its beauty, true maharaja style.

Late in the evening you will be taken back to the train where a grand dinner and an overnight stay are arranged, while Palace on Wheels moves towards its next destination Sawai Madhopur.

Day 3 - Sawai Madhopur - Chittorgarh

Palace on Wheels enters the terrain of Sawai Madhopur at dawn. After breakfast, the guests will be taken to Ranthambore National Park. The Park is home to more than 300 species of birds and many animals such as tigers, hyena, jackal, fox among others. Return to train for lunch and onward journey to Chittorgarh. Spend the evening at the historic Chittorgarh Fort.

Day 4 - Udaipur

Palace on Wheels arrives in Udaipur, the Lake city at 0800 hrs. Visit Jag Niwas, Lake Pichola and City Palace. A guided tour to Crystal Gallery will be arranged in the evening. The train proceeds towards Jaisalmer. Overnight stay will be on board.

Day 5 - Jaisalmer

The train enters the city of Jaisalmer at 0915 hours. The city of Jaisalmer was founded in 1156 AD by Rewal Jaisal. Wander around its splendidly latticed havelis- Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim-Singh-ki-haveli. You may like to shop for handicrafts, shawls and embroidered articles in government approved shops . Enjoy the evening tea in the Sam sand dunes accompanied by a cultural performance by the local artists. Afterwards, move towards a palace hotel to witness a grand Rajasthani dinner.

Post dinner return to the royal carriage of Palace on Wheels for overnight stay. The train will leave Jaisalmer at 11.45 PM to continue its journey towards Jodhpur.

Day 6 - Jodhpur

Early morning, the train arrives in Jodhpur. The city was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 AD. Post breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour to the city of Jodhpur and visit the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, located in the cliff top of the hill. The fort houses many palaces within its walls which still mirror the grandeur and regality of the bygone era rulers.

The lunch in Jodhpur is arranges in a deluxe hotel which serves delicious cuisines from all around the world. Post lunch embark the train for your onward journey to Bharatpur and Agra.

The overnight stay and dinner is arranged onboard Palace on Wheels.

Day 7 - Bharatpur - Agra

Next morning, the Train reaches Bharatpur where the famous Keoladeo Ghana National Park is situated. The Park is home to thousands of Egrets, Siberian cranes, Water fowl and migratory birds. After an explorative safari to the Ghana National Park, return to the train to continue the journey to Agra. Breakfast will be served onboard. By 1030 hours, the Palace on Wheels enters the terrain of Agra, the home to the World Wonder Taj Mahal. Witness this iconic statement of love and explore its history with the experienced guide of the train. Later, enjoy a royal lunch in a Palace hotel in Agra.

Post lunch, if you want, you can also roam about the local markets of the city.

Palace on Wheels will leave Agra at 2300 hours. Enjoy a delicious dinner and a relaxing overnight stay onboard while the train chugs towards Delhi.

Day 8 - Delhi

After breakfast, checkout of the train, taking with you, the memories of a weeklong luxury ride with Palace on Wheels.
